Maria Ioannou Anastasiou is a graduate of LLB of the University of Warwick and a barrister-at-law of the Lincoln’s Inn. She specializes in civil litigation and has a broad trial and appellate litigation practice. Her practice particularly encompasses corporate and commercial litigation as well as tort and contract law claims. She also has several years of experience working on corporate insolvency related issues and on procedures for the recognition, registration and enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards.

Maria has represented a wide range of domestic and multinational clients in judicial cases and has handled various dispute resolution matters.  Maria Ioannou Anastasiou has been frequently involved in the handling of complex and highly contested cases involving highly esteemed clients, major offshore companies and other prominent multinational entities.  Maria also advises and assists clients in pre-litigation procedures as well as court procedures including asset tracing, mareva Injunctions, pre-trial discovery, debt recovery strategies, ex-parte applications for injuctive relief and execution of judgments.

Maria participated together with the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic in the harmonization programme in view of the accession of the Republic of Cyprus to the European Union. She also participated in a project of the European Commission involving a legal analysis of the transposition of Environmental Directives in the European Union.

Maria Ioannou Anastasiou has authored and contributed to various legal publications and articles including various articles published in the International Law Office, the article “Lifting the Corporate Veil” published in a local newspaper with the title and the Cyprus Chapter in the Encyclopedia of International Commercial Litigation.
